DO's & DON'Ts of traveling Europe

Labels: Traveling Europe-general DO travel the world. Take any chance you get.
DO bring a journal to write down EVERY single detail (luckily I jotted down more than enough information to create a fabulous blog).
DO purchase or rent an international cell phone or SIM card. I rented a SIM card and used my own Razr abroad.
DO bring an ATM card. Carrying around a lot of cash is not a smart idea.
DONT take out more money than needed. You'll lose during the exchange.
DON'T be embarrassed to shop at the EURO stores. They're great!
DO shop at local markets. You'll find yourself saving so much money because they aren't tourist traps, while absorbing the culture at the same time.
DO attempt to speak the country's language. Natives greatly appreciate your efforts, even if you sound ridiculous.
DO stay in hostels. It's a great way to meet people and it's so cheap! I still keep in contact with my roomies in Barcelona.
DONT walk around with open bags. There are gypsies all over Europe. I used my zippered Long Champ and comfortably explored Italy. I didn't even need to use the "required" fanny pack, although mine was super chic.
DO check airport weight requirements. Many girls returning home from their semester in Florence had to throw away much of their belongings.

Your blog is awesome. I'm thinking of spending a semester abroad, too. Love your Dos & Don'ts and all your great pics.
Thanks,
Jeanne

Thank you for your comment! I try to keep my blog picture-heavy because I think it's more appealing than having too much copy. I also love photography, so I try to take as much advantage of that when I'm abroad! I hope you keep reading :)

Thanks again!
Eleni
