the San Diego State University offers a "Semester at SDSU" option through their American Language Center. If you show decent TOEFL Scores, you are allowed to take up to 4 classes per semester of regular university courses throughout almost all degree types, the school is offering. However, there is a method called "crashing" which means that after regular degree-seeking students have signed up for the classes, you can try to get in each preferred class by talking to the professors of these classes. If the classes are full, you will most likely be rejected, if not, you will probably get this class, provided you have proof, that you meet the generel reequirements of this class.
Although the crashing process involves some risks, it is a great and easy way to spend a semester without going through the complicated admissions process and be able to basically choose from all available classes, the university has to offer - the ideal way, to credit for your classes when you return to your home university.
